Vivan Sundaram was an Indian contemporary artist. Trained as a painter, his multidisciplinary practice spanned sculpture, installation, photography, and video. Politically engaged and deeply intertextual, his work addressed questions of identity, popular culture, perception, and memory, often situating these concerns within broader historical and social frameworks. He is widely recognized as a key figure in contemporary Indian art.
