Description:
Produced while in residence at Western Front, Vivan Sundaram’s video Couples Photo Album, Vancouver presents a sequence of intimate vignettes documenting artist couples and individuals within the city’s cultural community. The work features Jack Adelaar and Maryon Adelaar, Karen Lee and Henry Tsang, Sukhjinder Kaur Sara and Amanpal Sara, Peter Coutemanche and Zainub Verjee, Brice MacNeil and Scott Watson, Hank Bull and Kate Craig, Margaret Dragu and Jim Munro, Kim Soo Goodtrack and Mark Handley, and Eric Metcalfe, amongst others. The twenty-minute video concludes with footage of Greg Canning and Christine Stewart’s wedding at St. James Cathedral in Vancouver.
Couples Photo Album, Vancouver also incorporates music by DB Boyko (voice), Hank Bull (piano), Eric Metcalfe (vibraphone), and Russell Wallace (drum); artworks by Hank Bull, Kate Craig, Kim Soo Goodtrack, and Zainub Verjee; and stills photography by Bryan Mulvihill,
