Lillian Allen is a poet, educator, and cultural activist born in Spanish Town, Jamaica and based in Toronto, Canada. Recognized as one of Canada’s leading innovators of dub poetry, Allen’s work embeds a feminist voice and world music influences into the form. Allen’s work spans publications, recordings, performances, lectures, and workshops. She is the founder of the Toronto International Dub Poetry Festival, and is a professor of creative writing at the Ontario College of Art and Design University.
