Description:

In advance of her performance as part of the Women in Words conference, Western Front presented a solo reading by Toronto-based poet Lillian Allen. 

Recognized as an innovator in Canadian dub poetry, a form characterized for its use of vernacular language and politically charged content, Allen’s kinetic ninety-minute set featured original compositions alongside work by Jamaican poet Louise Bennett-Coverley and De Dub collaborator Clifton Joseph.

Presented with support from the West Coast Women and Words Society, La Quena Coffeehouse, and Canada Council.
