Description:

sheBOP! was a performance and lecture by Mother of Pearl jazz ensemble that covered multiple genres of jazz from over a century of music. 

The performance showcased musical pieces and its history to tell the story of jazz written and performed by Canadian women from the ragtime of Montreal's Vera Guilaroff to the world jazz of Vancouver's Kathy Kidd. 

Mother of Pearl's performers were Brenda Baird (piano), Wendy Solloway (bass), Lauri Lyster (drums), Karen Graves (saxophones), Colleen Savage (vocals). Eleanor Collins was a special guest.  

This event was part of t a k e a b r o a d v i e w, a music program and festival of musical explorations by women.
