Description:
Noise not Noise was a two-day symposium exploring the changing role of noise in culture. Through public lectures, panel discussions, performances, and participatory events, Noise not Noise examined new realms for noise-making and its broader meanings and interpretations across disciplines.
The symposium began with A Noisy Brush with the Infinite, a keynote presentation by Dr. Laura U. Marks. Her thirty-minute talk addressed the control of information in the public domain, and the potential function of noise as a creative and political counterpart to dominant cultural forces. Marks’s presentation closed with a question and answer period.
