Talk by Holly Ward and Other Sights for Artists' Projects

Oct 3, 2015
Field:

Talk

Location:

Grand Luxe Hall, Western Front

Time:

12:00 - 1:00 p.m.

Description:

Holly Ward and Other Sights for Artists' Projects reflected on their practices and the artworks they created for Urgent Imagination: Art and Urban Development, Part 1—a project that invited artists to respond to a multi-acre site one block from Western Front that was slated for development.

Their presentations took place during the second part of Urgent Imagination—a multi-day conference that examined how art and creative thinking can influence urban planning.

Urgent Imagination: Art and Urban Development was a two-part project that proposed creative alternatives to developer-driven architecture and urban planning in Vancouver. The project generated events, artworks, conferences, and an online platform for critical inquiry into issues concerning urban development, spatial justice, and critical theory.
