Taking place concurrently at Western Front and grunt gallery, New Work was an exhibition by George Sawchuk that featured a series of portable wood carved sculptures, and photographic documentation of Sawchuck’s “yard work”—a series of site-specific carvings and assemblages that intervened on the forested area surrounding his home in Fanny Bay, Vancouver Island.
Sawchuk presented an artist talk at grunt gallery on Apr 1, 1988. A publication was developed to accompany the exhibition, which focused on Sawchuck’s lifelong yard work practice.
