Description:

The Laughing Academy was a multimedia lecture by Byron Black in the Grand Luxe Hall that combined slide projections, video, and live performance. Throughout the seventy-minute work, Black appeared as a number of characters to lecture on topics ranging from psychoanalysis, to the nature of broadcasting, to his travels to Japan and Singapore, to speculative fictions about Western Front’s core members’ alter egos.

Video documentation is available upon request.

Western Front is a non-profit artist-run centre in Vancouver.
