Fake Jazz Festival was a five-day concert series celebrating underground experimental noise music. Curated by Anju Singh, Jeremy Van Wyck, and Bill Batt, the festival took place in the Grand Luxe Hall and at offsite venues Lick and La Casa Del Artista. Fake Jazz Festival also ran in tandem with Noise not Noise—Western Front’s two-day symposium exploring the changing role of noise in culture.
The first day of Fake Jazz featured performances by Aerosol Constellations, Heavy Chains, Broken Sleep, Empty Love, and Shipyards at Lick.
Presented with support from the Government of Canada, SOCAN Foundation, CiTR Discorder, Long & McQuade, and Best Western Uptown Hotel.
