Description:
This single-channel video production by Image Bank serves as a prototype for a video novel of the same name. Referencing the myth of Narcissus and debates in critical theory surrounding the aesthetics of video art, a central character defines and is defined by video. Found footage, vignettes, and text emerge and dissolve, suggesting the “diminishing visual returns” of the medium.
Video Narcissus features a piano score by Kathleen Trasov, with sound by David Brawn.
Video documentation is available upon request.
