Trading Places: Un Échange with Vicky Mettler and Ellwood Epps

Description:

Western Front hosted  trumpeter Ellwood Epps and guitarist Vicky Mettler for a ten-day residency as part of the series Trading Places: Un Échange. While in residence, the musicians performed in the Grand Luxe Hall, as well as in various venues around the city that culminated with a performance at the Roundhouse Community Centre for New Orchestra Workshop (NOW) Society’s 40th anniversary celebration.

Epps and Mettler were also interviewed Vancouver-based musician and researcher Sabrina Chang on their approach to improvisation. Video documentation of this conversation is available upon request.
