Field:

Talk

Location:

Grand Luxe Hall, Western Front

Time:

7:00 p.m.

Description:

Presented as part of Vancouver Independent Archives Week, Artists in the Archive was a panel that explored archives at artist-run centres as unique and generative resources for artists and communities at large. The panel began with twenty-minute presentations by artists Luke Fowler, Althea Thauberger, and Gabriela Aceves Sepúlveda; followed by a discussion moderated by Western Front media arts curator Allison Collins, grunt gallery archives manager Dan Pon, and VIVO Media Arts Centre events and exhibitions coordinator Alexander Muir. Their conversation linked the actions and strategies of artist-run centres with the ongoing work of artists who rely on the preservation of these vulnerable materials.

Presented as part of Vancouver Independent Archives Week, a joint initiative of grunt gallery, VIVO Media Arts Centre, and Western Front.

Video documentation of this event is available upon request.
