Description:
Western Front hosted London-based writer and curator Shama Khanna for a residency in which they developed Flatness, an ongoing research project engaging with screen-based images and immaterial culture in relation to the internet.
Originating as a thematic program at the Oberhausen Short Film Festival, Flatness operates across multiple platforms including a project website that features contributions by artists, writers, and technologists engaging with the possibilities and limitations of the web as a creative site and a space for viewing. While in residence, Khanna convened a reading and discussion group around a weekly screening series, and was joined by Sydney Hart for a conversation in the Grand Luxe Hall.
Western Front is a non-profit artist-run centre in Vancouver.
