Spell to Bring Lost Creatures Home was an interdisciplinary performance by visual artist Shary Boyle and songwriter Christine Fellows conceived as a series of vignettes seen through a window. Drawings and collages by Boyle were animated and illuminated by an overhead projector, while Fellows performed spoken word and songs on piano and ukulele. The forty-five minute handcrafted spectacle combined an original suite of shadow-casting costumes, music, and images to explore distance and alienation, childhood and aging, and imagination and resilience in the face of a changing landscape.
Presented in partnership with SFU’s Vancity Office of Community Engagement.
