Description:

This single-channel video production by Vera Frenkel features a cycle of stories drawn from experiences at Western Front. Recorded in the Grand Luxe Hall, artists Donna Balma, Anna Banana, Elizabeth Chitty, Jane Ellison, Crista Haukedal, Hugh Poole, Charles Rea, Patrick Ready, Avis Rosenberg, Sylvia Scott, and Cornelia Wyngaarden retold stories for the camera. Each story forms a thread in a collective narrative that Frenkel frames as a complex yet playful account of a particular place and time. Through this, Frenkel subverts a linear format for storytelling, which acts as both her subject and vehicle in this work. 

The production features an original song by Patrick Ready.
