Description:
Western Front invited artists to perform as part of Under Exposure, a presentation of new music at the Vancouver Art Gallery.
Vishwa was an ensemble of Sunny Matharu (tabla), Neetu Matharu (vocals and sitar), and Maxwell Ngai (violin) that performed South Asian-inspired music.
Andrew Kim performed on homemade instruments including an eight-string electric sitar and nine-string Indian violin, accompanied by Tarun Nayan on tabla. Their interwoven sonic textures fused elements drawn from classical and contemporary Indian and African music.
Western Front is a non-profit artist-run centre in Vancouver.
We acknowledge the xʷməθkʷəy̓əm (Musqueam), Skwxwú7mesh (Squamish), and səl̓ílwətaʔɬ (Tsleil-Waututh) Nations as traditional owners of the land upon which Western Front stands.
