Description:
While in residence at Western Front, Julie C. Fortier developed and researched a video-performance that would become Vanishing Point (2004).
The work takes place on a vacant lot in Vancouver where Fortier records herself digging a hole in the soil with a pickaxe and a shovel. Paradoxically, the artist’s capacity to be productive produces an absence and the disappearance of her image.
Video documentation is available upon request.
Western Front is a non-profit
artist-run centre in Vancouver.
