Queensborough: Clearcutting the Neighbourhood? was an exhibition by Leanne Leduc and Laura Boschman that responded to the transformation of the rural community of Queensborough in New Westminster into a two-hundred-unit housing development. Community concerns were raised over the intensity of land use, considering the site’s wetland bog composition and its location on the Fraser River.
For the exhibition, Leduc, who lived half a block from the development, displayed poster-sized black-and-white portraits offering a personal view of the community. Boschman contributed a video work on Queensborough that examined both media “objectivity” and local community interests. The video was also screened at community meetings.
