Nhan Duc Nguyen’s exhibition Johnny Piper Floats Dead Goats brought together photographic works, paintings, and Xerox-collage wall pieces and books. Drawing on Nguyen’s Vietnamese heritage and Western popular culture, with references ranging from the world atlas to Don McLean’s pop hit “American Pie,” the works served to bridge his past with the reality of a new culture, merging social differences with personal growth and identity.
A publication featuring black-and-white illustrations, collages, and text by Nguyen accompanied the exhibition.
