Western Front presented three evenings with writer and filmmaker Chris Kraus, highlighting her novels, art criticism, and early experimental films. To conclude the series, Kraus read from her novel Summer of Hate (2012) in the Grand Luxe Hall as part of Scrivener’s Monthly. The thirty-minute reading was followed by a conversation with Vancouver-based writer, artist, and educator Marina Roy.
Scrivener’s Monthly was a series of public presentations that explored the space between material practices and spoken words. Set alongside exhibitions at Western Front, this experiment in “not publishing” involved readings, performances, and other articulations.
Presented in partnership with Emily Carr University of Art + Design, DIM Cinema, and The Cinematheque.
