Living Dusts
Description:
While in residence at Western Front, writer and performer Steve McCaffery developed the single-channel video Living Dusts. Pairing spoken and scrolling text with moving images, the work extends McCaffery’s exploration of performance as a condition of writing after the book, and of “performed grammatology,” placing these textual practices in tension with videated time, transfer, and image.
In Living Dusts, McCaffery appears alongside Barbara Best, Eli Best, Denis Bowen, Hank Bull, Kate Craig, Brian Debeck, Kora Debeck, Jeff Derksen, Jane Ellison, Anya Fraser, Bruce Fraser, David Hay, Karen MacCormack, and Brice MacNeil.
The work was produced with technical support from Bobbi Kozinuk, and computer graphics by Vanessa Lowe and Brice MacNeil.
