Philosophically in Love
Description:
Brice MacNeil’s single-channel video Philosophically in Love reenacts the Marquis de Sade's book Philosophy in the Boudoir (1795). The cast includes Eric Metcalfe as Marquis de Sade, Mary McQueen as Madame de Saint-Ange, Paul Lang as Le Chevalier de Mirval, Bobbi Kozinuk as Augustin the gardener, and MacNeil as Dolmance—a man who wants to educate young Eugenie in hedonism and the ways of the libertine. The characters interact both in person and through a television monitor.
