Perspective on an Archive: Resisting the Gaze

Dec 10, 2008

Screening

Location:

Grand Luxe Hall, Western Front

Time:

7:00 – 9:00 p.m.

Description:

Resisting the Gaze was a screening of archival footage from Western Front's archive curated by Kemi Craig as part of the Perspectives on an Archive residency.

Resisting the Gaze presented works that are intimate articulations of love, fragmentation, loss, reclamation, and place. The layers used in the works elucidated the looking processes by breaking apart, fusing back together, and distorting images. These works interrogate the construction of the gaze, and offer ways to reread images by creating multiple narratives.
