Ian Carr-Harris’s installation On TV explored the intimacy of television within a domestic environment. The work consisted of a large mockup of a television screen isolated from its box. Projected onto the screen was a still image of a meadow, animated by the flicker of a rotating fan to simulate movement. This pastoral scene was accompanied by an audio track that alternated between the sound of static and a recorded lecture by Carr-Harris on Édouard Manet’s Olympia (1863) and Luncheon on the Grass (1863).
