Joe Sarahan’s performance The Rise and Fall of an Empire investigates aspects of youth culture and its inherent relationship with mass media, commercialization, and political commitment. A multichannel video installation filled the Grand Luxe Hall, while three androgynous youth actors dressed in punk attire applied makeup and skateboarded across the stage.
