Joe Sarahan’s performance The Rise and Fall of an Empire investigates aspects of youth culture and its inherent relationship with mass media, commercialization, and political commitment. A multichannel video installation was projected and played across monitors while three young androgynous actors dressed in punk rock attire applied makeup and skateboarded across the stage.
