Laiwan

Bio:

Laiwan is an interdisciplinary artist, writer, and educator based in Vancouver, Canada. Born in Zimbabwe to Chinese parents, her family immigrated to Canada in 1977 to leave the war in former Rhodesia. Since the late 1980s, she has investigated colonialism with an aim towards decoloniality. Her practice is based in poetics and philosophy, and explores embodiment through performativity, musicality, and improvisation.
