Bio:

Al Neil was a musician, composer, artist, and writer whose practice was based in Vancouver, Canada. Neil co-founded the Cellar, a jazz club in Mount Pleasant that informed the development of Vancouver’s bebop and avant-garde music scenes. His experimental practice in sound, performance, poetry, and visual art incorporated assemblage and other elements of Dadaism, leading to his involvement with the collective Intermedia. Beginning in the 1960s, Neil resided in the Blue Cabin on the Dollarton mudflats, where he was later joined by his collaborator Carole Itter.
