Description:

On the occasion of Al Neil’s 70th birthday party, New Orchestra Workshop organized a tribute cabaret featuring a roster of Vancouver-based musicians, poets, dancers, and performance artists.

Hosted by Hank Bull and Kate Hammet-Vaughan, the concert included music by Nikita Carter (tenor sax), Ron Samworth (guitar), Gregg Simpson (drums), Clyde Reed (bass), Ross Taggart (piano), June Katz (voice), Paul Plimley (piano), Gavin Walker (sax), and Al Neil (piano); spoken word by Jamie Reid; and a tap dance routine by Lexie Montgomery. 

Prior to the concert in the Grand Luxe Hall, Bull led a musical parade to Neil’s house in Strathcona to wish him a happy birthday.
