Description:

Respecting the Endocrine System was a workshop led by Linda Montano, building on her work and interest in the seven chakras and their link to the endocrine systems. Participants were asked to bring a piece of fruit, a wig, and something soft to sit on. The Grand Luxe Hall was dimly lit in the seven colours of the chakras and a simple altar was set up in the space.

Participants took part in a guided ritual healing by sitting in a circle and focusing on each chakra and its corresponding gland in the endocrine system. Montano, dressed as a hag, sat at a piano, playing music interwoven with instructions and singing. After completing this segment, Montano shed her costume and joined the participants in the circle. Together, they engaged in discussions, shared reflections, practiced meditation and vocalizations, and participated in individual and group movement exercises.

This work was a part of the Contemporary Ritual Series curated by Victoria Singh.
