Meeting Points

Nov 1, 1978
Field:

Performance, Media Artwork

Location:

Gallery, Western Front

Description:

While in residence at Western Front, Sanja Iveković presented Meeting Points in the gallery. The performance consists of two parts, beginning with Iveković performing in an empty gallery. Her actions in the space correspond to her anticipation of where the audience will eventually be, and the relationship that will develop between performer and spectator. Her actions are videotaped, and in part two, this footage is played back on a monitor placed in the corner of the gallery. She repeats her private performance for a live audience, synchronizing  her actions to the video playback. In both parts, the action is videotaped from the same position.

The resulting documentation presents the footage from both performances as a diptych.

Presented in partnership with Video Inn and PUMPS Centre for the Arts.

Video documentation is available upon request.
