String Theory: Charlotte Hug with Chantale Laplante, East Van Strings

Nov 4, 2005
Field:

Concert, Performance

Location:

Grand Luxe Hall, Western Front

Time:

8:00 p.m.

Description:

This was the first event of the String Theory: The Future of the Stringed Instrument concert series.

In a bewitching merger of classical viola with unorthodox bowing techniques and live electronic processing, violist Charlotte Hug performed with electroacoustic composer Chantale Laplante.

East Van Strings performed a new work composed by ensemble leader Gordon Grdina, which paid homage to the string quartets of Bartok, Berg, and Webern.
