Scrivener's Monthly: Sharon Lockhart and James Benning Talking About Process

Mar 1, 2018
Field:

Talk

Location:

Grand Luxe Hall, Western Front

Time:

7:00 p.m.

Description:

This installment of Scrivener’s Monthly brought together Sharon Lockhart and James Benning—American filmmakers who take diverse approaches to their work, but share sensibilities rooted in the delicate gesture of paying attention. A screening of Lockhart’s film Rudzienko (2016) and James Benning’s film L. COHEN (2017) took place before the artists engaged in conversation around processes of working with subjects as collaborators.

Scrivener’s Monthly was a series of public presentations that explored the space between material practices and spoken words. Set alongside exhibitions at Western Front, this experiment in “not publishing” involved readings, performances, and other articulations.
