Description:
In partnership with the Contemporary Art Gallery, Western Front presented two twenty-minute videos documenting conversations between artists Eli Bornowsky and Elizabeth McIntosh. The videos were produced in conjunction with McIntosh’s solo exhibition Violet’s Hair at the Contemporary Art Gallery, and Bornowsky’s exhibition Walking, Square, Cylinder, Plane at Western Front.
McIntosh and Bornowsky are both painters whose work fits primarily into the realm of geometric abstraction. Taking turns interviewing each other, their discussion navigates the artists’ personal relationships to their work and their viewers, as well as their artistic processes. The interviews, which are set against the backdrop of the artists’ respective exhibitions, reveal new and unexpected layers of meaning within specific paintings.
Video documentation is available upon request.
