Description:

Elizabeth Vander Zaag’s single-channel video Baby Eyes is an example of early computer animation. The work layers computer-altered imagery of herself and her infant daughter alongside images of gates and doors. The soundtrack, composed of baby noises, reinforces the pre-verbal nature of communication and highlights the intrinsic newness of both the infant and the computer. In this sense, Baby Eyes captures the connection between early human experience and emerging technology.
