Western Front hosted artists Kate Armstrong and Michael Tippett for a talk as part of an external Upgrade! Vancouver program, organized by Kate Armstrong as well.

Armstrong and Tippett discussed their net art collaboration Grafik Dynamo, a commission for Turbulence.org. Grafik Dynamo loaded live images from blogs and online news sources into an action comic strip. The images were accompanied by narrative fragments that were dynamically loaded into speech and thought bubbles and randomly displayed. 

The work took an experimental approach to open ended narrative, positing a new hybrid between the flow of data animating the work and the formal parameter that comprises its structure.
