Concert by Gamelan Madu Sari

Western Front and Gamelan Madu Sari presented an evening of gamelan music and dance from Central Java, Indonesia. Proceeds from the concert went towards the purchase of new gamelan instruments.

Both traditional pieces for court gamelan and new music for gamelan were featured, as well as shadow play music from Bali. Special guests for this event included dancer Aya Sakuma, and musicians Ann Hepper, Kenneth Newby, Michael O’Neill, and artist in residence, I Wayan Sadra on Balinese gender wayang.
