Description:
The Parallax View was a group exhibition co-curated by Meg Shiffler of Consolidated Works, Seattle, and Jonathan Middleton of Western Front. It paired Vancouver-based artists Nicole+Ryan and Michael Euyung Oh with Seattle-based artists Mark O’Connell and Claude Zervas in an attempt to bridge the visual art communities in both cities.
The exhibition examined the similarities and differences in the way art has evolved, and continues to be produced in both places. Is there a West Coast sensibility that emerges from the works? Likewise, how have conditions such as government funding, marketplace, and politics affected the way the art scenes in the two cities have grown up?
The exhibition featured projects ranging from painting, installation, photography, sculpture, and video work.
An exhibition opening took place Sep 4, 2003.
