Description:

While in residence, Kenneth Doren developed a musical work intended for a live opera performance with multimedia elements. 

The piece was based on historical incidents surrounding Mary, Queen of Scots during the sixteenth-century and incorporated recordings from the century to be digitally reworked. This social opera dealt with historic and contemporary views on incarceration and justice. The libretto partly borrowed from historical poetry around Mary’s quest for title recognition and ultimately her execution.
