Scrivener's Monthly: Andrew Berardini Dreaming About Sunsets and Clouds with Kara Hansen

Apr 22, 2016
Field:

Reading

Location:

Grand Luxe Hall, Western Front

Time:

8:17 p.m.

Description:

Presented as part of Scrivener’s Monthly, Andrew Bernardini read a poetic essay about the varieties of clouds and how to look at sunsets. Accompanied by Vancouver-based artist Kara Hansen, the hour-long reading was introduced with Joni Mitchell’s song “Clouds” (1969), and unfolded against a live streamed video projection of the sky at sunset. The event was paced by the movement of the sun towards the horizon and concluded at nightfall.

Scrivener’s Monthly was a series of public presentations that explored the space between material practices and spoken words. Set alongside exhibitions at Western Front, this experiment in “not publishing” involved readings, performances, and other articulations.

Video documentation of this event is available upon request.

A yellow sidewalk sign is held up against the blue background of the sky. To the right of the sign two hands hold it gently up. One hand is at the top right corner lifting their fingers up, the other hand is at the bottom corner holding the sign. The roof of a building can be seen in the background. The sign details information about the next iteration of Scrivener's Monthly at Western Front featuring Andrew Beradini.
