Description:

In this installation, Jim Miller altered eighteen Canadian Guild jigsaw puzzles, produced by the Whitman Puzzle Company, each depicting iconic Canadian scenes and landmarks. While the imagery varied across the puzzles, they all shared the same dye and pattern, making their pieces interchangeable. By reassembling and disassembling the puzzles into new composite images, Miller sought to deconstruct these postcard-like representations of Canada, questioning the notion of a unified national identity and instead suggesting a fragmented and malleable one in place.
