Deep Listening Workshop with Pauline Oliveros

Nov 29, 2008

Western Front

11:00 a.m. & 2:00 p.m.

Western Front presented a Deep Listening workshop facilitated by the creator herself, Pauline Oliveros.

Deep Listening is a form of mediation that is based on experiencing heightened awareness of sound, silence, and sounding. Deep Listening is a philosophy and practice that distinguishes the difference between the involuntary nature of hearing and the voluntary selective nature of listening. The result of the practice cultivates an appreciation of sounds on a heightened level—expanding the potential for connection and interaction between one’s environment, technology, and performance with others in music and related arts.
