Description:
This event was programmed as part of a multi-day celebration of Art’s Birthday that coincided with the 100th anniversary of radio. Local and international artists used sound, video, robotics, poetry, images, and performance to celebrate and deconstruct utopian ideas of network, radio, and places.
Western Front served as an open house to watch or listen to the remote streams from around the world, and participate in streaming activities.
Program:
12:00 – 1:00 p.m., CHOWDOWN by Instant Places streamed from Regina, Saskatchewan. The sounds of the fiddle and animals grazing mixed with various Art's Birthday streams.
12:30 – 1:30 p.m., Society of Algorithm performed a three-city stream between Tokyo, Prague, and Brussels.
1:30 – 2:30 p.m., Kunstradio and Ars Acustica streamed to Western Front from Europe.
2:30 – 3:00 p.m., Western Front reciprocated a stream back to Kunstradio and Ars Acustica.
4:00 – 6:00 p.m., Second Front’s Arts Birthday online performance.
10:30 p.m., Hank Bull, Roberto Paci Dalò, Makiko Hara, and the audience video streamed with Tetsuo Kogawa and Radio Kinesonus in Tokyo.
