Pink Poem was a durational performance work by Kate Craig comprising a series of handmade and found pink satin garments. It marked a decisive break from her Lady Brute persona, enabling Craig to rethink her artistic direction while examining the conditions that shaped feminine identity, sexuality, and autonomy.
Pink Poem encompassed a number of Craig’s works throughout the 1970s and 1980s, with clothing from the series mobilized within her other performances, including her appearance at Amy Vanderbilt’s Valentine’s Ball (1975) and the video work Straight Jacket (1980).
