As part of Western Front’s weekly Monday Night Reading Series in the Grand Luxe Hall, Sonja Arntzen presented her research on the medieval Japanese Zen Buddhist monk Ikkyū (1394–1481). Over the course of the evening, Arntzen read her own English translations of Ikkyū’s poems written in Chinese.Captions:
