Description:
A collaborative performance by Jon Siddall, founder of Gamelan Si Pawit, and members of the experimental rock band we just stole a car, presented as part of
The New Bronze Age—a series that explored west coast adaptations of Indonesian gamelan music.
Throughout the hour-long concert, Daryn Cassie (piano), Dominic Conway (saxophone), Elliot Langford (bass), John Mutter (guitar), Kevin Romain (drums), and Daniel Ruiz (percussion), flitted between a gamelan set and rock outfit. Together with Siddall, their performance combined contemporary jazz and new music ideologies with traditional South-Asian harmony and rhythm, noise, and improvisation to create a unique performance structure.
