Western Front hosted media artist Jennifer Chan for a residency in which she shared a selection of video works and presented a performative reading in the Grand Luxe Hall. Extending from her filmmaking practice, Chan's presentation addressed gender and race politics in reaction to the media’s promise of happiness. Chan's videos resonate with her active and irreverent engagement with social politics and QTWOC (queer/trans/women of colour) feminism on the internet; often remixing images from stock photography archives and amateur fan videos to empathetically comment on desire, love, equality, taste, violence, and suffering.
