Doing Sovereignties

May 25 — 28, 2016

Doing Sovereignties was a gathering of artists, activists, scholars, and curators whose practices focus on everyday actions of Indigenous sovereignty, particularly through sound, speech, and song in public spaces. The program encompassed walks, listening sessions, interviews, discussions, meals, and performances.

Doing Sovereignties also encompassed an evening of performances in the Grand Luxe Hall by Cheryl L’Hirondelle, Raven Chacon, Laura Ortman, Jeremy Dutcher, and Bracken Hanuse Corlett.

Presented with support from the First Nations and Indigenous Studies department at the University of British Columbia.
