Description:
Western Front presented a series of performances, interactive artist-made instruments, and sound installations made from household objects at the Vancouver Art Gallery’s Family FUSE Weekend as part of Sonic Playground.
The works included Brad Muirhead and Martin Fisk’s Quadrabalarimbamaphone (2008); Frederick Brummer’s Speaker Drum (2010), KeyTron 46,000 (2010), and Turntable Machine (2010); Diana Burgoyne’s Audio Bug (2010) and Drop & Listen (2010); and Lee Hutzulak and Madoka Hara’s Contactopus (2010).
Sonic Playground was a joint initiative of Western Front, Vancouver New Music, and NOW Orchestra that paired youth with professional artists to explore experimental practices in sound and music.
Western Front is a non-profit artist-run centre in Vancouver.
