Description:

Spencer Cathey presented a talk with slides, video, and demonstrations reflecting on the past five years of computer graphics production and research at Western Front.

His talk was divided into two parts. The first section discussed the original image processing section Etude (Extended 2-D Environment). This collection of original programs, mainly written by Kye Goodwin, allowed the user to apply transforms repeatedly to develop fractal processes based on images rather than pure geometry. The second section focused on upcoming plans for research including ideas for a painting machine, voxel rendering 3D cellular automata, and real-time control of computer graphics and video equipment.
